Congratulations on the 20th anniversary of STEAG Energy Services do Brasil

The motivation for the foundation of a company in Brazil in 2002 was the takeover of the full-scale operation and maintenance services for the Canoas gas turbine power plant in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre region. STEAG Energy Services do Brasil has formed a consortium for this purpose with its partner Camargo Corrêa in order to be able to work on this power plant project for the owner Petrobrás, one of the largest Brazilian oil companies. 

A second gas turbine project was added in 2008, the power plant of ThyssenKrupp Compania Siderurgica Atlantico (CSA). Both projects were completed successfully and to the satisfaction of the customer.
A lot has happened since then: Today, the local team, now consisting of around 250 employees, offers various services for the Brazilian and South American energy sector in the areas of engineering, operation and maintenance, training and operations management support software.

Another focus is on renewable energies, such as the operation of biomass plants, but also gas and steam plants and, plants with combined heat and power are managed by the STEAG experts.  In total, the team operates 14 gigawatts in various technologies, thus securing a sustainable energy supply in Brazil. 

Around 80% of the electricity required in Brazil is currently already generated from renewable energies - this puts Brazil well ahead on the subject of sustainability, with the cleanest energy balance of all industrialized and emerging countries.  The entire STEAG team in Brazil is making an important contribution to further expanding Brazil's pioneering role in South America.
